Korea Smart Grid Institute Strengthens Global Cooperation with IMQ Gulf to Expand into UAE Market
The Korea Smart Grid Institute (KSGI) has recently formalized a business collaboration with IMQ Gulf, the Dubai branch of the IMQ Group, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership, which includes KSGI, JeonNam Techno Park, and the Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute, is designed to foster global cooperation in the new energy sector, primarily based in South Jeolla Province, Korea. It aims to establish a comprehensive network for business expansion, particularly assisting Jeonnam's new energy industry companies to extend their reach to the UAE. The agreement includes initiatives like lowering certification costs under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS), offering certification-related consulting and advisory services, and reducing the time for certification issuance. The IMQ Group has evolved from the “Istituto Italiano del Marchio di Qualità,” established in 1951 in Italy, and now operates internationally with branches in various countries, including China, Poland, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the UAE. This MoU was signed during the 3rd Korea-UAE Energy Week in Dubai, an event spanning three days. The Korea Energy Week, led by the JeonNam Province Government and co-organized by several entities including KSGI and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), JeonNam Techno Park, Green Energy Institute, and Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute (EVEDI), is an integral part of JeonNam’s efforts to promote its new energy industry companies globally. This particular event in the UAE was notable for coinciding with the 25th WETEX and Dubai Solar Show, making it an important platform for establishing global cooperation channels. In addition to the agreement with IMQ Gulf, KSGI engaged in working meetings to build collaborative relationships with various entities such as the Dubai Airport Free Zone, Emirates Green Building Council, and the Korea-UAE Joint R&D Technology Center at Khalifa University. KSGI aims to continue fostering strong collaborations with energy organizations in the UAE to support South Jeolla Province's new energy companies in penetrating the UAE market and promoting knowledge and skill exchange. |
